The Dow Jones copy-editing program is one of the premiere internships for copy editing in the U.S. I attended two weeks of training at the Center for Editing Excellence in Florida and completed a summer copy-editing internship at The Roanoke Times, in Roanoke, Va.

My journalism career began with a one-year Society of Professional Journalists national fellowship, which traveled to a new school every two years and was held by one recipient per year. As the SPJ intern, I submitted briefs for a section of the group's national magazine each month, and also gathered content for SPJ's daily e-newsletter of major headlines / events in journalism.
