Gretta is the Occupancy Specialist at commonspace, a peer lead organization supporting individuals in Maine through substance use recovery towards wellness, particularly those experiencing chronic homelessness and incarceration. Here, she oversee the tenancy of a 38-bed women's recovery house, where she supports the women in successfully maintaining stable housing, understanding their leases, and navigate early recovery and the transition from homelessness or incarceration to stable housing. Previously Gretta worked as the Community Based Advocate at Through These Doors, The Domestic Violence Resource Center for Cumberland County, where she provided emotional support, safety planning, and resource connection to unhoused survivors of intimate partner abuse, stalking, and human trafficking. Through their role at Through These Doors, they facilitated multiple support groups and worked to increase access points to services through holding drop in hours throughout the community. Gretta has also created a street outreach program, to help meet the needs of survivors also experiencing unsheltered homelessness. She continues to contribute to staffing the organization's 24 hour helpline as a volunteer and collaborates with a multitude of community partners to help create a safer, more just and compassionate community. Gretta also previously, owned and operated Homebody, an organizing and spacemaking company where she helped her clients create more flow and ease in their homes. She helped clients embody their space and get in touch with how their home could support their greater goals. She has over nine years of experience working in food service, and her skills range from curating a delicious menu of specialty coffees to managing operations of a restaurant. She plans to complete a masters degree in Social Work and go on to work as a Licensed Clinical Social worker in her community. Gretta leads a values based life, integrating her core values of compassion, integrity, and growth into all that they do professionally and within their personal communities.
