Anyone who knows me, knows I like a list. So please enjoy the following list of my five best selling points.1. Woof Woof Waffles. They were my best-selling dog treat that were sold straight from my red wagon. For two summers, I worked on acquiring new customers and marketing my newest dog treat flavor: Doggy Bites. When I was in middle school, creating businesses was one of my pastimes, but what kept me interested are the same aspects that keep me engaged today: lead generation, audience segmentation and copywriting. (I even wrote a newsletter to share with the neighborhood dog parents about new recipes, packaging, and about placing pre-orders.)2. I wrote my first book at age 9 (and I proudly told anyone around me about my storytelling gift). Granted, I did do some heavy lifting from Shel Silverstein. Okay, so a lot of heavy lifting. I ripped off The Giving Tree, but I rewrote the lineup with an all-female cast. I proudly printed the one-page, single-space book on our at-home computer and presented it to my teacher the next day, requesting edits by the end of the week.3. What can you find me doing on a Friday night? If you guessed asking a book club member to screen share their cell phone with the TV in order to help line edit their dating profile, I will personally send you a Starbucks gift card. But in all seriousness, taking lines such as “I am great with parents” to “I can’t wait to talk with your dad about the Civil War” is what I live for — a.k.a. digital marketing. Whether it’s a business, product or person, anything can be marketed, you just have to find the idiosyncrasies and expose them.4. Just call me the subject line queen — in charge of bringing content to life in the right inbox. I originally downloaded Twitter in 2010 to work on concise writing. But Twitter extended the character limit and I never honed the craft of short-form writing. Until email marketing. Developing influential content is only exciting if people read it, and subject lines are the gateway to engagement. Not only is conciseness a major factor in a subject line, but there are direct analytics associated with a subject line, where I can analyze and refine art of writing through open rate, click rate, click-through rate, etc.5. Professor Grey. This was once my title, and although I’m not in education anymore, I still strive to lead a team of writers to success. While writers at a marketing agency may have separate KPIs than students in a lecture hall, the idea is still the same. Guide writers to understand voice and audience to deliver content that matters.
