At MRI I created from scratch the company's airport planning, design and construction practice, recruiting individuals for leading A&E and airport technology firms in the US and around the world. I also helped airports recruit Directors and Deputy Directors. During my tenure at the Raleigh office of this franchised recruiting organization, I generated more than $2.5 million dollars in sales before leaving in order to open my own search firm.While at MRI, I recruited nationwide for architects, engineers, master planners & environmental planners, construction & program managers, project managers, marketing & business development specialists, sales managers, airport management, and other aviation leaders. My searches were focused vertically in aviation, recruiting not just Principals, VPs, and Directors, but also mid-level talent with background in aviation. My earning the CSAM credentials also reflected my continuing education and advanced professional development training. I was named worldwide MRI Network CSAM of the Year in 2006. MRI at that time was the world's largest executive search & recruitment organization.

I was the #2 at ACC, a non-profit industry trade association that lobbies Congress for funding of airport projects and legislation affecting the aviation industry. Organized conferences and training events for professional development and networking, and worked with agencies such as FAA and airport management such as AAAE and ACI to address technical issues facing airports and consultants. Extensive daily contact with people ranging from principals of airport consulting firms to their project managers, and from airport directors and airline execs to the heads of various transportation agencies. This allowed me to build a comprehensive network of trusted contacts. My responsibilities included business operations and finance, public speaking, technical writing, marketing, publications and conferences, web site development, human resources, managing staff, and building from scratch the association's customer relationship management database.

I specialized in project management, acquisition planning, and engineering administration for ground support equipment in the fleet of all Navy and Marine helicopters and prop aircraft. I managed field agencies to ensure timely purchase and delivery of advanced systems, guided the procurement of engineering services & equipment through complex legal and military channels, and briefed senior military officers, and worked alongside uniform personnel. I also reviewed engineering design solutions from contractors and field managers and secured funding for these mission critical issues. As it turns out, this first professional career position put me firmly in the people side of engineering, a track from which I never looked back. NAVAIR taught me how to bridge the gap communicating between technical engineers and key management.
