Projects: East Area 1 Development (Santa Paula, California USA): a future 541 acre residential and commercial development; - Led the hydraulic 2D modeling efforts for proposed flood control improvements for Orcutt Creek in Santa Paula California. Analyzed and designed various flood control alternatives taking into account: effectiveness, potential costs, impacts to surrounding areas, and construction feasibility. For this site the alternatives included: design of debris basin, detention basin, flow diversion structures (weirs, conveyance channels, bridge crossings), erosion control, and levee design; evaluation of creek sediment transport capacity. Developed 3D model of topographic surface using Lidar data and flown aerials in Autocad Civil3D. Completed comparative analysis using GIS to determine impact of proposed flood control improvements to adjacent properties. Culvert Extension Walnut Canyon Wash (Moorpark, California, USA). -Using HECRAS evaluated proposed improvements to culvert crossing, primarily concerned with existing conveyance and impacts of extending culvert. Lloyd Canyon Lloyd Sump 12 (Ventura California, USA): Erosion Control Measures -Project aimed to minimize erosion of a site where oilfield waste material was historically dumped. Used a 2D model to evaluate erosion mitigation measures, including the rerouting of an existing channel via construction of a new channel, bermed basin with outlet consisting of 60-inch diameter CMP with 4 intake points. Assisted with an alternative analysis for energy dissipaters at the outlet of the double 60-inch CMP with significant exit velocities. Santa Paula West Business Park (Santa Paula California USA): 77 acres of mix use land (office, industrial and retail)-Evaluated flood control measures to Adams Creek to eliminate impacts of fill material from proposed site development. Design of flood control improvements including: grading site for drainage and conveyance, culvert crossings.

Chicago Tunnel and Reservoir Plan (TARP) System -Perform data analysis to reduce flooding, combined sewer overflows and eliminate hydraulic transients in the Chicago metropolitan area. -Run hydrological and hydraulic models developed for the Calumet TARP system at the University of Illinois and assess the effectiveness of current operational plans, and assist in the development of new operating plans.Master’s Thesis: Exploration of factors impacting Velocity-Index Ratings -Used FLOW 3D to build a numerical model of a trapezoidal channel. Applied model for development of a database representative of different conditions: backwater, vegetation grow, and obstacles in channel, for a range of discharges. -Developed a Matlab code which simulates a flow meter and reports measurements. -Used velocities reported by virtual meter to build and compare velocity-index ratings for the different conditions.

Modeled a sewer network and subcatchment areas in InfoWorks for municipalities in the Chicago Area, as part of aninvasive species control investigation.-Modified existing SWMM model of the Lemont Water Treatment Plant to reflect proposed construction changes to theplant; analyzed response of changes under different design storms.-Designed and modeled main water distribution pipe to replace 3 existing parallel pipes in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Off-Gas Testing, San Luis Potosi, Mexico-Constructed equipment to conduct an off gas test including: a hood to capture gas and an off-gas analyzer. -Conducted off gas tests to determine the oxygen transfer efficiency on site.Clean Water Testing of Diffuser Technologies, Irvine, California -Tested air diffusers for wastewater aeration according to the ASCE Standard Method for Oxygen Transfer. -Quantified the energy-footprint of wastewater aeration using different diffuser technologies. -Provided insight to engineering parameters, such as mass transfer coefficient, standard oxygen transfer rate, and standard oxygen transfer efficiency, to be used in the development of a diffuser performance database.
