Values, Vision, Mission: My values are as follows: faith, family, education and justice. My faith is simply my faith in God, as I am a devout Christian who is trying to go into ministry. After that, I value my family, but truly that includes all of my loved ones, not just those that are related to me. I value not just my relationship with them but also time spent with them. I value my education, but I also value the power of education and how it can be used to galvanize populations to pursue equality. Finally I value justice, and I value justice in all of its forms. Social, economic, and justice for our planet. To me, justice means doing what's right, even when it's difficult. Personal Leadership Statement: When I think of what I learned while taking ELPS 201, a few things come to mind, like what kind of a leader I am, as well as what issues are important for me as a leader. When I am in a position of leadership, I will always push for democratic leadership, as it is a form of leadership that prioritizes input and participation of followers. This means that the whole group makes decisions together, which I find to be extremely important for a church. Furthermore, I believe that unity of a group is important, so eliminating out groups is very important to me, since an out group by definition is not "in." Sometimes the greatest threat to a church comes from within itself, so unity is very important to me in my leadership style. Another item I find very important is ethical leadership, which is doing the right thing in the right way. This plays into my value of justice, but it also plays into how I view a leader. A leader to me is someone who does the right thing. Hypocrisy is the greatest way to immediately make your words meaningless, and any impact you might have had become nothing. If you act in the right way, your actions will speak louder than your words.
