My internship with Haworth focused on improving operational efficiencies at Haworth's distribution center in Holland, MI. I primarily focused on the following projects:1. Redesigning HiLo Forklift Battery Charging Station - I assessed the process by which forklift drivers access and utilize batteries with the goal of optimizing battery life. My analysis resulted in a recommendation for a redesigned battery delivery station. I presented my design to senior facility managers who granted their approval. I developed a request for expenditure for a new charging station and sought and reviewed proposals.2. Truck Loading Efficiency - I designed a study to examine efficiency of various truck loading approaches, including developing a new efficiency metric, which resulted in a modified method of loading products onto trucks.Finally, I was engaged in multiple professional development activities with Haworth staff and a broader cohort of interns, including developing software and communication skills, as well as interviewing senior staff on their careers.
