We all have an opportunity to make a change in this world. The industries of construction & architecture have always spoken to me because of their ability to impact the way in which people occupy space. We live, work, eat, & sleep in the spaces that we create which influence how we perceive the world. As members of the building community, we hold an immense amount of responsibility to design, construct, & manage the built environment. The future of civilization depends on the actions we take today.Through my undergraduate education/internships in architecture & graduate education/work experience in construction management, I’ve had the privilege to gain insight on how each side of the industry operates. More importantly, it has helped me understand that we all play a role in the project life cycle and that all perspectives are valid. What I hope to change in this industry is that our roles simply do not define our priorities. Designers are not the only people who care about program, aesthetic, & concept. And contractors are not the only people who care about budget, schedule, & quality. It has an impact on all of us!
