About Robert Griffiths

Robert Griffiths is the Assistant Vice Provost of Online Learning and Innovation for Ohio State Online. Dr. Griffiths has been passionate about the affordances and possibilities of technology empowered learning opportunities since showing his family how to use the Apple IIc. The journey for life-long education is an undercurrent that drives much of his professional and personal interests, whether it is formal education or coaching adaptive tennis.Beyond directing online education curriculum design and support efforts for Ohio State, he oversees for-credit, non-degree student services. Finally, he drives institutional efforts to coordinate, elevate, and advance continuing education offerings to support the university’s workforce development efforts. He has co-authored Ohio State’s alternative credentials framework and strategy. Prior to his current role, he has also directed the Learning Technology and Student Success team which designed and delivered the tools, spaces, programs, and policies to support Ohio State’s 21st century education. Its primary focus was to increase digital student literacy and access to digital tools and content. The team led more than a dozen enterprise learning tools, including the university’s learning management system; designed and managed 350+ classrooms, Digital Union locations, and meeting spaces; offered expertise through professional learning opportunities and resources for Ohio State educators; and led the Affordable Learning Exchange, which saved students more than $45 million on course materials since 2016.Dr. Griffiths earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Denison University and his master's and doctorate degrees in communication from Ohio State.
