I was hired as organization’s first employee and Executive Director, and led the organization through tremendous growth, starting with a $35,000 budget and two events each year to a $250,000 budget, a nationwide professional development program, a strong Board of Directors, three employees, over 130 volunteers, and nearly 45 events in six regions and three tradeshow venues. During my time at OIWC, I established the organization and myself as a respected partner in the outdoor, bike and snowsports industries. In 2009, I received a ‘Power Player’ award from industry publication SNEWS, as ‘one to watch’ in the outdoor industry.

    Winter Wildlands Alliance is the first and only national organization of its kind for human-powered snow sport enthusiasts and winter wildland conservationists. Its aim is to ensure a safe, quiet, tranquil experience for every winter wildlands adventurer, now and always. I was hired as the organization’s first employee and Executive Director. As sole fundraiser, I increased annual fund from $80,000 to $350,000 through grants, corporate partnerships and individual donations. I worked with the Board of Directors to develop a five-year strategic plan, plus I developed and managed the annual budget and work plans. I oversaw management of highly successful annual events, including a Grassroots Advocacy Skills Conference and Yellowstone skiers’ event. I also oversaw the development and management of public relations and outreach programs, including writing and design of brochures, newsletters, magazine advertisements and other publications, plus the development of strategies related to public policy.
