Mammoet is a global contractor in heavy lifting and transport. I participated in the two-year Young Technical Sales Development Program (YTSD Program). As sales engineer I was responsible for writing quotations for international clients, performing cost calculations and risk analyses, advising about tender strategy, designing operational solutions, managing technical documentation and drawings, approaching subcontractors and creating support within the operational department. As a part of the YTSD Program I also gained experience in engineering, project management and execution at site.

Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) is a world leading marine contractor in the international offshore oil and gas industry. As subsea installation engineer I worked on the flowlines scope of the Ichthys LNG project. My task was to support technical preparation of flowlines installation performed with HMC's J-lay and Reel-lay vessel Aegir. I advised and supported the project team in the optimisation of the design and the installation procedures. It requires close conference with other disciplines within HMC: Project management, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, Aegir design team and Drafting office. I gained in-field installation experience during the execution of the Lucius Deepwater Oil and Gas Project in the Gulf of Mexico.

A Marine Engineer performs essential analyses and calculations for the transportation and installation of offshore structures. I was dedicated to the subsea projects of Heerema Marine Contractors. Analyses comprised of weather risk assessments, vessel response calculations, marine transportation analyses, reporting on environmental conditions and investigating operability limitations. During the offshore execution of projects I provided marine offshore decision support, including motion monitoring. As a marine engineer I have been involved in projects: Ichthys LNG Project, Lucius Deepwater Oil and Gas Project, Kaombo Project and Noble Alen Phase II.

University Utrecht is a large and multifaceted international knowledge centre of academic and scientific excellence. As a researcher I was part of the Coastal Research group in the Geosciences faculty. We examined the effect of three consecutive sand nourishments on the temporal evolution of the sub-tidal sandbars and the low-tide water line at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. For this a 16-year long data set of daily low-tide video images was analysed. Results were published in the conference proceedings of NCK-days 2012 and delivered in a Dutch report to Deltares and the Dutch public works authority (Rijkswaterstaat).

The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) is the internationally recognised Dutch independent authority on meteorology and seismology. I performed an extensive study to the impact of short term wind fluctuations on sea surface elevation in storm surge situations. ECMWF wind data was used in conjunction with shallow water storm surge model WAQUA/DCSM. Results of the study were published in scientific journal 'Natural Hazards'.
