    Olea Edge Analytics faced issues with edge IoT devices reliably communicating with the cloud. Before my arrival, the team struggled with Google Cloud VPC and the connection between Shared VPC, networks, and projects. The existing solution, rooted in outdated managed hosting concepts, led to sporadic connection failures and data loss. My guidance enabled the team to adopt appropriate cloud-native GCP technologies, rebuild the IoT device network, and revamp data ingress pipelines. This resulted in monthly cost savings exceeding $20,000.The transition, however, was challenging. The team initially struggled with change management and deploying a GitOps-style workflow, leading to slow, opaque release cycles. Implementing a consistent deployment strategy became vital. I led the team to develop a plan, implement a branching strategy, and automate CI/CD deployments triggered by pull requests. Upon refining the GitLab configuration, we integrated Slack webhooks, informing key contacts about changes promptly.Soon the team realized upcoming hardware revisions necessitated a new IoT application. The existing application lacked mobile compatibility and key features. With the designated front-end engineer leaving, I was tasked to quickly develop a compatible application for the new hardware. Using FlutterFlow and updating our Python APIs, I ensured the application was delivered on schedule, enabling our installation team to meet their deadlines.
