Postdoctoral researcher at the chair of Management Science at RWTH Aachen University. Developed clustering algorithms that can preserve ratios of attributes in all clusters. The algorithms improve the approximation guarantees for these types of clusterings from 14 to 5 (3 if slight ratio changes are allowed).Taught a class on algorithms and data structures to a class of 25 international data science students with diverse STEM backgrounds and work experience. I received excellent evaluations (4.44-4.89 on an 1 to 5 scale) in all categories.

Postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the Combinatorics and Optimization department of the University of Waterloo.Improved tree-augmentation algorithms that increase the fault-tolerance in networks at low cost, using Java, Gurobi and Nauty to analyze bad cases. This resulted in an improvement of the best previously known cost guarantee from 1.96 to 1.5.Taught a course on optimization for 88 students using LaTeX and TikZ based slides, resulting in good evaluations in all categories (3.15-4.50 on an 1 to 5 scale).

Postdoctoral Researcher at Berlin Institute of Technology in the group for Combinatorial Optimization and Graph Algorithms.Planned a research project on models for gas networks in a 3-person team, resulting in a grant of approx.~250000 Euro from the German Research Foundation.Designed and implemented graph-based models and algorithms for gas pipeline systems in Java, using Gurobi, Apache Commons, Guava, JScience, JSch for SSH and XML (DOM). Resulted in the ability to shrink real-world gas networks by up to 76\% in size, which greatly improved solver performance.

Scientific assistant in the Combinatorial Optimization and Graph Algorithms group at Berlin Institute of Technology. Developed a software package for modeling, simulating and analyzing building evacuations in a 12-person team, using Java, JOGL, JUnit, SSJ, Swing, XStream. Designed and implemented a scalable graph-based model and algorithms which enabled the prediction of evacuation times for a 20-story office building in Berlin.Designed and implemented servers for the board games RoboRally and Hive. The servers can host games, enforce the game rules, and communicate with clients using a protocol built upon TCP/IP (and Database/XML storage for Hive). Used successfully to conduct AI tournaments for up to 40 teams of students.Hired and led teams of 12 assistants, organizing Java classes for up to 400 students, and conducted AI tournaments.

Substituting Professor at the Institute for Mathematical Optimization at Braunschweig University of Technology, Germany. Devised and taught bachelor-level courses on "Introduction on Mathematical Optimization" and "Computational Mathmatics II" with approximately 50 students each. The focus of these lectures is mainly on linear, combinatorial and convex optimization techniques and their implementations. Led teams of 4 assistants to conduct tutorials, exercises and exams.
