Senior Software Engineer
Full system life cycle from client discussion & design, through specifications & estimates, to testing & final delivery. Working on multiple medium-sized booking/ordering systems in C# ASP .NET 4.5 with MVC, WPF, LINQ and more SQL server. I had the most fun with WPF when writing a program to fix, via automated searching and re-matching, all the broken links in ~19,000 Excel files!

I joined C3 Global, before it was brought by Bentley, and three months into a six month contract I was given a permanent role. Java and JSP used exclusively for server-side development. Netbeans is the IDE and high level SQL for required for BIG DATA operations. Predictive/Operational Analytics is an exciting area. Main tasks were bug fixing legacy code, enhancements, and writing code according to provided specifications. Working in a medium sized team was a great experience.

Software Engineer
Designed, created, tested, and delivered many bespoke applications in VB6, classic ASP, CSS & vanilla Javascript. Highlights are a full-text searchable web platform with very large image delivery, hundreds of thousands of thumbnail previews with automatic article highlighting, and powerful indexed searching via dtSearch. Image enhancement via clean up, crop, de-skew, dirty removal, scratched line-auto-filling, pixel processing both manually via high level Assembly Language and the 3rd party image processing tool ImageGear. The images, once cleaned, were OCR'd via Abbyy’s FineReader SDK during which process XML, with detailed meta data, was created to store text co-ordinates to facilitate dynamic highlighting of text on the images. Due to the sheer volume of images, and the size of the created XML data, much effort was put into designing and creating automatic testing and validation tools. Some human interactivity was required, of course, but was kept to a minimum.
