I received a diverse education, my first master's degree was focused on the technologies of the microelectronic industry and bio-medical electronics, in order to enter graduate school I had to retrain in physical and mathematical sciences with an emphasis on solid state physics, physics of semiconductors and dielectrics. While writing my dissertation, I had to pay a lot of attention to computing technologies so that my mathematical models could be implemented and calculated using the code I wrote. Then I thought about getting a second education, and it became a legal education with specialization in intellectual property law. It seemed to me that this was a successful combination of skills and competencies - in the process of technology transfer, it is good to have an understanding of the process from both the scientific, technical and legal sides. I had to work both in the IT industry as a business analyst, systems analyst, and in the engineering industry as an intellectual property specialist; I had to support both the creation of a software product and the creation of an object of intellectual property rights, technology transfer and licensing. Now I am working in science to create a software product that simulates quantum mechanical processes and allows optimization of semiconductor devices. This product is based on mathematical models of physical processes, solving the Poisson-Schrödinger equations in the formalism of nonequilibrium Green's functions and uses pseudo-heuristic algorithms to find promising and filter out unpromising epitaxial layerstacks. My current work uses all my education - I create a software product, an innovative solution that uses accurate knowledge of quantum mechanical physical processes and may be of interest to the semiconductor device industry, in particular for creating new resonant tunnel diodes that would be significantly better than existing ones - only due to the algorithm finding promising epitaxial layerstacks.
