Three things fascinate me most about managing Polygon Technologies a business which develops remote monitoring, remote control and security solutions. - Each day, I get the opportunity to match my client's challenges with a sound solution from our product offerings. I enjoy thinking in creative ways, this works hand in hand with my focus on offering solutions.- I thrive on providing a high level of service delivery, before and after-sales.- With 10 years + of experience with the product line, I have seen a lot and this helps me mould myself to my customers’ industry/ challenge, however, due to the wide applications of the GSM Commander I am forever learning and growing my skills and knowledge base.We work with both small and large companies to optimize business operations and improve efficiencies. The impact is significant:- Intelligent Monitoring Systems in Malawi needed the supply and installation of a dam-level monitoring system for all the reservoirs in Malawi. I helped them specify the correct GSM Commander in a Ready To Mount Solar Box with level sensors for the application. Their client is now able to remotely monitor all the reservoirs throughout the country via their web browser. They also receive SMS alerts if the reservoir is emptying too quickly (a sign of a large leak).- Primall Media contacted us to find out if the GSM Commander could be used to remotely reboot all their interactive display boards in shopping centres throughout South Africa. They had determined that their hardware on-site can freeze from time to time, and this would result in a technician having to drive to the site to simply reboot the equipment. Due to the large number of display boards in the market, this expense quickly escalated. They decided to fit the GSM Commander into each display panel. They now know about the issue before the client does and rectify the situation from the comfort of their office.- We partnered with a telecommunications company to help curb the theft of their underground cables in South Africa. A GSM Commander with multiple inputs was installed in each exchange that was experiencing theft of cables. As a result, when the cables are cut the GSM Commander sends an SMS to the response units. The SMS contains the location of the theft (static) as well as the exact time and date of the event.Outside of work, I attest my success to a great support structure around me, with my biggest supporter being my wife. I enjoy social engagements with friends and family. I love going on beach walks with my wife. I am also a massive car enthusiast.

The BEST SMS, GSM & GPRS Controller out there. Providing an easy to use convenient and versatile solution to all electrical equipment monitoring
Malawi
In the beginning of 2017 Polygon was approached by Intelligent Monitoring Systems in Malawi. They had been asked to quote on the supply and installation of a dam level monitoring system for all the reservoirs in Malawi. I helped Maya specify the correct GSM Commander in a Ready To Mount Solar Box with level sensors for the application. Intelligent Monitoring Systems then flew down to our head office in Cape Town for a brief 4 hour training course and to collect the bulk stock.Once back in Malawi they completed the installations within 4 months without a single support call or email, well done to Maya from IMS we are very proud to have you representing the GSM Commander in Malawi.Further to the hardware installation, Maya and his team implemented their own unique SCADA front end on their server in Malawi. They have the GSM Commanders communicating directly to their server via GPRS instead of using our AirDrive front end. Their client is now able to remotely monitor all the reservoirs throughout the country via their web browser. They also receive SMS alerts if the reservoir is emptying to quickly (a sign of a large leak). Some pictures of the installations are below as well as his front end.

Polygon Technologies was one of the electronics companies that was awarded a tender to supply 13 000 control circuit boards for Metering Kiosks / Protective Structures in and around the Johannesburg area. The MKC was a bespoke product which leveraged the GSM Commanders firmware, we were also responsible for designing and implementing the front end for the city. The MKC was designed to achieve the following:✪ Access Control to the Kiosk / Protective Structure via HID 1300MHz Readers (manufactured by Polygon) which controlled 2 x servo motors via 2 x relay outputs✪ 3 Phase Power Failure Monitoring✪ Internal Temperature Monitoring of the structure✪ Intelligent Battery Management✪ Vibration Sensor for vandalism alerts- Built into the HID Reader which also housed our GSM Antenna & was mounted on top of the structure- See Stealth Antenna Image below

Polygon Technologies partnered with South Africa's largest telecommunications company in 2012 in order to help curb the theft of their under ground telecommunications cables in South Africa. A GSM Commander with multiple inputs was installed in each exchange that was experiencing theft of cables.A underground loop was created by bridging 2 free cables together @ the far end of the cable run, they then wired this loop that they created to the GSM Commanders Input. This loop causes the GSM Commanders Input to go active, when the cable gets cut it breaks the loop and the GSM Commander would SMS the response units. The SMS contained the location of the theft (static) as well as the exact time and date of the event. The event was also logged to the Control Room via GPRS using our AirDrive platform, the control room would ensure the response unit was on their way to site and they would make comments regarding the outcome of the event via the platform as well.Below is a basic diagram showing how they implemented this strategy.

Primall Media contacted Polygon Technologies to find out if the GSM Commander could be used to remotely switch all their interactive display boards in shopping centers through-out South Africa. They had determined that their hardware on site can freeze from time to time, and this would result in a technician having to drive to site to simply reboot the equipment. Due to the large numbers of display boards in the market this expense quickly escalated. They decided to fit the GSM Commander into each display panel. The GSM Commander can now turn off the 220Vac coming in to the display panel for a few seconds. This is done via a simple dropped call from the approved cellphone number. The GSM Commander also monitor a dry contact which goes active when the hardware freezes. We also monitor for legitimate power failures and restorations @ each panel and notify them of this via SMS.They now know about the issue before the client does and rectify the situation from the comfort of their office.

Polygon Technologies partnered with a local company called Novagen in 2011.Novagen had a client who required a remote temperature monitoring system for 160 clinical fridges across the country. The GSM Commander was installed by each fridge with a 0.5°C accurate temperature probe. Each GSM Commander was programmed to send out SMS alerts to the staff on duty if the temperature exceeded specified temperatures as well as if the door was left open for to long.In conjunction with the SMS alerts each GSM Commander logged the fridge temperatures to our AirDrive Platform (www.airdrive.co.za) The client is able to see all 160 fridges and associated temperatures at a glance. They can also retrieve the last 6 months worth of historical logs from the platform in a .csv format
