Dr. Guillaume Thibault is an esteemed biochemist and cell biologist with over 20 years of experience in cellular stress responses and quality control mechanisms. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry under the mentorship of Prof. Walid Houry at the University of Toronto, Canada. Following his doctoral studies, he pursued postdoctoral research in Dr. Davis Ng’s laboratory at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore. In 2013, Dr. Thibault joined the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he established a research program focusing on cellular stress and lipid homeostasis. His outstanding contributions to the field earned him the prestigious Elite Nanyang Assistant Professorship Award, leading to his promotion to Associate Professor with tenure. He has secured over S$3.6 million in external funding as a principal investigator at NTU and has published 41 papers, achieving an h-index of 21. Dr. Thibault's research expertise spans a broad range of methodologies, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and advanced imaging techniques. His work has been featured in high-impact journals such as Molecular Cell, Science, eLife, Nature Communications, and the Journal of Cell Biology.In addition to his research accomplishments, Dr. Thibault holds a joint appointment as Co-Principal Investigator at the Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore. He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Molecular Biology of the Cell and is the founding President of the Society for Cell Biology Singapore (SCBS). Dr. Thibault is also deeply committed to academic leadership and international collaboration. As the Assistant Dean (International Engagement) for the College of Science at NTU, he has been instrumental in fostering global partnerships and enhancing the college's international presence. His service to NTU and the broader scientific community includes roles such as the Associate Chair (Graduate Education) at SBS, Co-Organizer of the FASEB The Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Conferences, and Committee Member of the ASCB International Affairs Committee.
