My primary directives currently involve leading the efforts to standardize the company’s DevOps practices, tooling across a large portfolio of products, as well as build a reusable framework and templates for large scale, atypical builds and deployments.

Moved to the Pearson Authoring Framework team to assist in their efforts to lay down new CI/CD and Terraform standards across multiple projects. Along with Lead SRE, we oversee about 5-6 different project platforms based on multiple cloud and data architectures, and worked with a multitude of dev teams to simplify their build and deployment processes.

Brought in to tackle the TEP team's automation goals supporting their Oracle applications, my primary directives involve constructing environments that are more cost efficient, manageable, and resolving provisioning/post-provisioning inconsistencies for large AWS environments.

A role that oversees the introduction of Ansible into a new infrastructure, which allows us to automate web environment creation, greatly reducing the time required to deploy hybrid stacks with Docker Swarm mode.

Our main goal was to automate client infrastructures and migrate from on-prem to cloud services. This allowed clients to avoid costly hardware purchases and take advantage of the additional services from AWS that would typically be more common with tech firms.

This role allowed me to grow a great deal in my familiarity with the mindset of developers and how they function. Shortly after starting, one of the main ideas was implementing DevOps principles to assist in code deployment. Was able to dive deep into SQL and be part of the company’s transition into Agile.

Quickly ramped up on Pinnacle’s SAS platform and also worked with other advanced technologies, such as Hadoop and F5 load balancers.

Was given the autonomy and freedom to implement whatever underlying services and technologies were needed to get the job done. Projects included migrating from an older Flash website to a completely redesigned site that I built myself, building a new web store based on open source shopping cart software allowing internet-based merchandise sales, implementing multi-site VPN for remote offices across the country, and automating the entire infrastructure to the point that a full-time employee was no longer required.

Instantly expanded the Mac knowledge of the call center and was exposed to many new technologies such as terminal usage to troubleshoot ATM backbone for a nationwide DSL provider, broadband over power lines, Asterisk servers for a major VOIP provider, and RADIUS server management for dial-up ISP authentication.
