About Greg Price

How do you find purpose? After working at start-ups, selling at Oracle for 12-years in the U.S. and abroad, managing a $1.1 billion quota, and building sustainable business models, I went all in. I pivoted to building earned revenue streams for several Bay Area nonprofits, independent schools, and social enterprises and found my answer: Purpose is achieved by connecting with and empowering the causes you care about. For me, this has meant contributing as a grantor, funder, board member, strategic consultant, public-private alliance broker, and development executive. When I find something worth growing, I figure out how to best add value. As I’ve noticed, one needn’t worry about starting something new; there are plenty of smart, productive enterprises already addressing worthwhile causes and yielding measurable, long-standing impact. I see my purpose as cultivating trusted relationships, co-developing innovative strategies, implementing solutions, removing obstacles, laying the groundwork for change, and sharing successes. My strength is building talent within teams and extending impact by uncovering then developing mission-aligned, new sources of revenue. To any nonprofit, added revenue enables greater flexibility to direct their own impact.I look for well-managed, mission-driven organizations that seek to extend their impact with larger, and more predictable, revenue streams. Let me know if your organization is ready to grow.

  • Gamble Foundation
    President
Gamble Foundation Jan 2024 - Present
    San Francisco Bay Area
Entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Gamble Foundation during a pivotal time of transition, my primary focus is to guide the foundation through a generational shift, as most of our board members are now from Generation Z. In this role, I am committed to upholding the principles of Trust-based Philanthropy, which emphasizes building strong relationships with grantees, providing unrestricted funding, and prioritizing transparency and open communication. We aim to create a more equitable and collaborative approach to grantmaking by advancing these practices.Simultaneously, I am dedicated to advancing the foundation's theme of Regenerative Agriculture. This involves working closely with the board to develop strategic initiatives, foster partnerships with like-minded organizations, and ensure that our funding is directed towards impactful projects and programs that align with our mission, values, and goals. By focusing on Regenerative Agriculture, we aim to support sustainable farming and ranching practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and resilience in the face of climate change. Our goal is to contribute to the development of a more sustainable and equitable food system that benefits both people and the planet. As a family foundation, it is crucial to honor the legacy and vision of our founders while adapting to the evolving needs of our community and the perspectives of the next generation. I strive to facilitate meaningful discussions and decision-making processes that take into account the diverse viewpoints of our board members, ultimately strengthening the foundation's ability to create positive change in the communities we serve.

LEAGUE TO SAVE LAKE TAHOE (Keep Tahoe Blue).* Change-focused environmental nonprofitThe League leverages action, scientific research, and collaboration across jurisdictions to solve challenges holistically. While I built engagement with major donors and joint ventures, I was drawn to the League’s ‘underdeveloped assets’ like an iconic brand, an established donor pool with unrealized potential, and respected leadership yet with a muddled message. I guided the revamp of the pitch deck for major donors that clarified the importance of our work, differentiated our impact, and developed new speaking opportunities. I segmented major donors, deployed engagement and cultivation plans, and augmented donor management systems that generated a 5x increase in major gifts. During the pandemic, I secured a multi-year, multi-channel sponsorship agreement with Pacifico Beer, the League’s largest deal ever, at $180K.GIVING COMPASS* Impact Philanthropy PortalInitiated by the Raikes Foundation, GivingCompass.org developed and released GivingPlanner--an online tool to guide individuals in the planning and tracking of their charitable giving. They sought to build a sustainable, earned-revenue model, and I defined their Go-To-Market strategy, shaped pricing models, identified their target market and position, prioritized a sequence of steps and tools to build out their demand-generation, sales and support, wrote job descriptions, and provided sales-coaching to their CEO.SALESFORCE.ORG*Community-focused non-profit arm of the cloud CRM pioneerI’ve had the great opportunity to work with the CEO and COO of Salesforce.org to map out strategic proposals inspired by Marc Benioff’s 1:1:1 business model. Together, we defined non-profit customer KPIs, created a suite of verticalized value-added support offerings, and designed a strategy to architect a dedicated Salesforce.org support team as well as an allied Center-of-Influence within Salesforce.com to ensure the program’s success.
  • Gamble Foundation
    President
    Gamble Foundation Jan 2010 - Dec 2022
    San Francisco Bay Area
In partnership with luminaries in Social Sector, Philanthropy, and Business, we’ve empowered non-profits to create sustainable business practices and earned-revenue models in order to stop relying entirely on external funding. I have advised and teamed up with COOs, Executive Directors, and their leadership teams on reimagining their branding, market positioning, outreach strategy, ecommerce programs, and alliances to reach their full potential.Currently, we’re driving regenerative agriculture programs – orchestrating a triple-win scenario where we promote farming and ranching methods that sustain profits, land management practices that bolster productivity, and environmentally sound practices that benefit local communities.
  • The New Village School
Co-Founder / Head Of Business Development & Strategy
The New Village School Dec 2008 - Sep 2018
    Sausalito, Ca
As part of a parent-teacher community, I co-launched a K-8 independent school that is 100% financially sustainable, serving 150 students, including supplemental tuition for nearly half the student body.In addition to handling all of the legal matters, governance, and startup activities for this venture, I led marketing and branding via social, digital, and print channels – building up high enough demand to warrant a waiting list. Our financial solvency has enabled the school to purchase a nearby 5-acre farm (in 2017) to serve as a “Classroom without Walls” to students once/week. The community is currently rehabilitating the property, building faculty housing and classrooms, and bringing in livestock, which is a bonding experience in itself.
  • Volunteermatch
Chief Services Officer / Head Of Strategy & Business Development
    Volunteermatch Aug 2005 - Dec 2014
    San Francisco Bay Area
The Board of Directors recruited me to strengthen the company's B2B division, which was losing market share to a new competitor. Under my leadership, we quadrupled cash flow for the corporate volunteering program, boosted volunteer placements 46%, and increased corporate renewals from 62% to a consistent >90%.The first step was restructuring and repositioning the business for success. I reestablished VolunteerMatch as the leader in employee engagement as well as non-profit community collaboration, streamlined our pricing model, added value to the existing product suite, set up split-structure Sales and Support organizations, and implemented CRMs and collaboration tools. We also constructed a new messaging platform and website strategy to better reach our primary audiences: community volunteers, corporate clients, and non-profits.With this new infrastructure and strategy in place, I sought out opportunities to better engage our target markets. This included implementing email alerts (40% open rate) and newsletters (20%-30% open rate), executing social media campaigns across LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook that collected 70,000 followers, and lining up corporate sponsors with world leaders in Retail and Online Networking.I pioneered a "cause solutions" revenue stream generating up to $100,000 per account through the likes of BMW, Coke, Walmart, and Allstate. To further boost top-of-mind for the company and its mission, I strengthened the VolunteerMatch Client Summit, bringing together great business leaders and academics around the topics of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and employee engagement.

  • Oracle
Director Of Sales / Regional Sales Manager, Renewal Sales
    Oracle 1988 - 1999
