I'm a graduate from Northeastern University Three Seas Program, which is an accelerated, full immersion and experiential master's program in Marine Biology. During this 15-month program, I completed both field and classroom-based studies in Massachusetts, Panama and Washington State and developed in-depth knowledge in marine biology and ecology in general. My master's thesis is about applying statistical count models on ecological count data to investigate changes of distribution and occurence of Risso's dolphins in the Southern California Bight. My Bachelor's thesis at Shenzhen University focused on Molecular Biology in microalgae. I was professionally trained in molecular cloning for 1.5 years and managed to indentify a novel photoreceptor gene HpChR1 in a fresh water green algae Haematococcus pluvialis.

Research InternCascadia Research Collective May 2019 - Dec 2019Olympia, WaI worked collaboratively with both Hawaii and West Coast office during my 6-month internship at Cascadia. I was responsible for photo identification of three dolphin species (common bottlenose dolphins, roughtoothed dolphins and Risso's dolphins). I learned and developed a series of count models by myself and implemented model comparison, selection and validation to estimate the spatial and temporal changes of the distribution and occurrence of Risso's dolphins in the Southern California Bight,… Show more I worked collaboratively with both Hawaii and West Coast office during my 6-month internship at Cascadia. Undergraduate Research AssistantShenzhen University May 2016 - Mar 2018Guangdong Technology Research Center For Marine Algal Bioengineering, ChinaI worked at Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Marine Bioresource & Eco-environmental Science, Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Marine Algal Biotechnology for nearly two years, during which I developed a full set of skills in molecular cloning. I managed to identify a novel Channel Rhodopsin gene HpChR1 in a green algae and revealed some of its potential functions by using bioinformatic tools.
