It is fortunate for me to have such a father, who is a bachelor in CASS (Chinese Academy of Social Science). He has been emphasizing on creating a free family environment for me so that I can shape perfect characteristics as well as identify and develop my personal interests. For example, I once was encouraged to join the group of Chinese youth reporters so as to enhance my confidence as well as social, expressive and thinking skills. In this process, I also obtained the opportunity to travel to Japan on behalf of the China Foundation For Cultural Heritage Conservation, which enabled me to experience different cultures and broaden horizons. Moreover, my parents would include me in their activities such as the daily meeting on talking about the selection of expected well-performed stocks. When I was in primary school, there was a significant increase in Shanghai composite index. Therefore, my parents conducted their investments in the stock market, and then came the daily discussion about the potential stocks. In this regard, my interest in finance has been aroused, so does the aspiration to strive for a career in the financial industry. My idea has won absolute support from my parents. Meanwhile, they are in favor of my decision to receive a finance education in the United States, where I can have more access to learning resources with its advanced economic and financial status, and get immersed in an international environment. Therefore, I have started a systematic learning on finance since the fall of 2017 at the New York Institute of Technology. Professional courses involved have introduced me to financial theories and principles, as well as equipped with essential mathematical and analytical skills, thus laying me a solid foundation of expertise. In my spare time, I usually refer to Financial Times and The Economists in order to develop an understanding of global financial events. Combining the knowledge mentioned in class, I try to predict whether the bond and stock prices will increase or decrease, and establish valuation models to judge whether the stock is underpriced or overpriced. I also seize opportunities to make my investment attempts and earn some profits.
