The Community of Practice on Poverty and Inequalities (CoP-PI) of the OECD Developmentt Assistance Committee (DAC) provides a space for exchange on how to maximise development co-operation’s focus and impact on reducing poverty and inequalities. The Poverty and Inequalities team is situated within the Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD), which supports the DAC.

My tasks included carrying out legal and other research on existing sanction regimes; assisting the team in the preparation of guidance documents and outreach activities, including meetings with stakeholders; assisting in the preparation of replies to questions from stakeholders and 'FAQs'; updating the database on persons, groups and entities targeted by financial restrictions.While working at the Sanctions Unit of DG FISMA, I focused on the interplay between sanctions and humanitarian assistance, contributing, for instance, to the Commission guidance note on the provision of humanitarian aid in compliance with EU restrictive measures.

The Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) is an independent civil society organization dedicated to seeking innovative strategies and responses to organized crime and illicit markets. As a research assistant, I contributed to the research process that underpinned the 2023 iteration of the Global Organized Crime Index, a tool designated to assess levels of organised crime and resilience to organised criminal activity in 194 countries across the world.
