I then coordinated the interaction with technology vendors to analyze and select the appropriate technologies to meet E&Y's needs for performance, responsiveness, security, and scalability.To ensure successful Big Data solution implementation, I led teams in Java and Unix development using the Agile Development and Continuous Integration/Release methodologies.Notable Achievements:► BIG DATA SOLUTION: I led the strategy and architecture design for the Hortonworks Big Data platform that used Helix to provide unified views of structured and unstructured data across heterogeneous data sources.► SECURITY: We designed the HDP Big Data cluster and delivered end-to-end security capabilities (authentication, authorization, audit).► STANDARDS: I directed the development of standards, tools, and frameworks to create the Big Data platform reference architecture.     This was a role that I was recruited into because of my previous success developing solutions for Target. I led a team of technical professionals in the automation of the systems lifecycle management and technology provisioning process. To understand the goals and needs of the organization, we conducted a deep-dive analysis into the business requirements and existing infrastructure. We then developed a comprehensive architecture design strategy and coordinated the development, testing, and delivery of the new architecture.Notable Achievements:► ARCHITECTURE DESIGN: I led the initiative to re-design the legacy architecture with an Open Stack, Private Cloud architecture. This included preparing the roadmap, presenting the proof-of-concept, leading the development, and directing the implementation.► SOA DELIVERY: We created a component-based, service-oriented architecture (SOA) that enabled the business to transition to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).► BUSINESS RESPONSIVENESS: We were able to dynamically auto-scale the environment to coincide with the significant peaks and valleys of our business cycle throughout the year. In addition, we created a framework that streamlined the migration of code from development to production because DevOps teams were able to test it on our infrastructure. This eliminated the need for third-party services to help us move releases into production.► COST SAVINGS: I implemented a sub-capacity licensing strategy that cut licensing costs for IBM WebSphere by $4M.
