Digital Controls Hardware Intern (Machine R&D)Lincoln Electric May 2015 - Aug 2015Euclid OhioWorked in Lincoln Electric's Machine R&D division in the Digital Controls Group. The digital controls group consists of 12-14 engineers depending on the amount of projects going on. The majority of those engineers are software and firmware engineers, with only 1 hardware engineer and PCB designer. I worked side by side with hardware design to design a functional test board for a new welding power source. I utilized software packages such as LTspice, TI Tina, Mentor Graphics Designer, and other circuit simulators. I had to spec all components and refer to data sheets for proper sizing, cooling considerations, and practical derating applications. I also worked on BLDC motor control using Allen Bradley and Parker Hannifin servo motors and a third party ELMO Whistle motor controller. My main task was to test the feasibility of using either motor to create oscillations close to 100Hz while maintaining motor stability and desired functionality. To finish my internship I was tasked with making an alpha stage test specification and wiring harness to test board functionality. -
Manufacturing Engineer Intern (Electronics Factory)Lincoln Electric May 2014 - Aug 2014Euclid OhioParticipated in Lincoln Electric's summer internship program. I was given the opportunity to be involved with a new electronics clean room put in place at Lincoln Electric. My main tasks included operating and programming 200+ PC boards for new automated robotic potting cells, and a PVA 650 spray coat machine. I became familiar with many of Lincoln Electric's manufacturing ideologies, and also had the opportunity to develop a process that will implemented for the spray coat machine. -
New Product Development InternImperial Stride Tools May 2013 - May 2014Solon OhioAt Stride Tool, I worked with a former HVAC teacher to develop a new refrigeration manifold. The gauge is the latest in HVAC technology with its' incorporation of active troubleshooting and its applications comparability with Android and IOS. I am currently working there on an As-Needed Basis. Over the summer, I was working with an engineer, and I compiled a large table of 40+ refrigerant curves, gathered refrigerant information, collected data from a mocked up heat pump unit, developed the logical basis for a unit stabilization feature, briefly worked with HTML and javascript code, and completed small SolidWorks 3D modeling projects.

Research And Development InternLincoln Electric May 2013 - Aug 2013Euclid OhioParticipated in Lincoln Electric's summer internship program. I was immersed into new product development where I was exposed to many aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering. My typical duties included: wireless communication testing, motor performance testing, building prototype units, troubleshooting products scheduled to be launched, obtaining calibration curves for gas flow sensor, weld performance testing of wire feeders, reworking and soldering PC boards, and make corrections to machine schematics.Throughout my summer internship, I was directly involved with projects and I worked hand in hand with multiple engineers and lab technicians. Everyone was very helpful, and if I needed help in a particular are they took time out of their day to thoroughly explain difficult and/or new concepts to me. The experience I gained will not only help me throughout my college education, but it also gave me a better understanding of what engineers actually do, allowing me to narrow down my core disciplinary focus for my future engineering career. -
Sheet Metal WorkerThe Smith And Oby Jun 2011 - Aug 2012Walton Hills OhioAs part of attending Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC), I was able to participate in the school-to-work program which allowed me to work part time while in high school. At Smith and Oby, I ran all the machines, including the press break, sheet metal shear, and Mig Welder. I typically worked in the shop fabricating ductwork, but on occasion I would be sent out to the field and work there as well.
