Providing a consultancy service in mental health projects located within the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Rural Health. The projects use implementation science to strengthen health systems so that they are able to integrate mental health services at community and primary health care level using evidence based practice. Managing the implementation of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Funded Project in three provinces in South Africa. The programme aimed to strengthen the health system to integrate mental health services into the chronic care in the primary health care level, using an evidence based collaborative care package for depression. Administrative tasks • Define the programme scope of work in line with programme protocol. • Lead coordination of programme activities with other collaborators, targeted districts in the implementation provinces as well as internal staff and other appropriate health ministry partners • Manage programme budget, resources and equipment • Conduct regular review of programme implementation data • Compile programme reports • Approve and manage time-sheets of MhINT programme staff and consultants• Review and approve travel plans, claim forms, and leave requests • Lead recruitment and selection of programme staff and their inductionStrategic Engagement • Liaise with relevant stakeholders i.e. programme collaborating partners and funder regarding strategic implementation goals• Utilize quality improvement methodology to set up teams at the different levels of the healthcare systems to facilitate integration of the collaborative care model for depression • Contribute to writing policy briefs to share recommendations based on lessons from implementationCapacity Building• Develop and revise manuals to capacitate lay healthcare workers to provide a psycho-social counselling intervention within primary healthcare • Develop Train-the-Trainer manuals targeting district level trainers and supervisors • Lead training and mentorship of internal MhINT Staff as well as the health ministry staff involved in implementation Supervision • Provide weekly clinical supervision and emotional support to internal staff located in the targeted implementation sites
