About Guilherme Gomes
I have 10+ experience building predictive statistical models across different domains such as finance, healthcare, social media, and genomics. I worked with a wide range of modes, from classical linear ones (e.g. logistc, poisson, multinomial regression) to the more exotic Bayesian non-parametrics and Deep Learning (e.g. Dirichlet processes, spectral clustering, Poisson point processes and Graph Convolution). During my PhD, I delved into Statistical Network Analysis, fostering a passion for constructing foundational, parsimonious models that leverage data topology to its fullest potential. Currently, I am a Data Scientist at Bayer leading a delivery team focused in genomic data modeling at scale. Over the past four years, I have developed models for marker imputation and parental assignment, automatic allele scoring, quality control, and marker picking. My approach is holistic, from ideation to cloud deployment, emphasizing efficiency and scalability.
