On a daily basis, I provide support for the growth of HostGator LatAm, supporting our devs/people and provisioning/managing servers. My current role consists of:- Provisioning, setup, management, security and monitoring of core corporate servers and services (billing, email, databases, jumpboxes, staging, etc);- Management of over 800 linux shared hosting servers (general webhosting, wordpress only servers, reseller servers);- Support for our internal staff (dev, products, support), regarding our products, servers and services;- Analyze and deploy softwares to production, products and changes to our systems, for both corporate and public shared hosting servers;- First point of contact for technical issues regarding both our corporate and public servers;- Development of internal tools and reports in order to assist all our departments and automate different kind of tasks;I also inherited some of my responsibilities as a Monitoring Analyst, helping the Monitoring team and their ~800 linux servers when needed:- Troubleshooting server issues (IO, CPU and Memory usage, MySQL, SPAM, Disk issues, Phishing, Hacking);- Monitor critical services such as Apache, nginx, MySQL, Exim, Dovecot, cPanel/WHM;- Assist in identifying problematic servers and schedule hardware maintenance;I started working for HostGator Brazil and ended up being one of the few people responsible for building HostGator LatAm servers/infrastructure.We started as HostGator Brazil and now we have HostGator Mexico, Colombia and Chile.
