LUMENTILE is an industrial development project funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 program .The goal is the development of electronic, luminous tiles for wall, floor and large video applications in smart-city environments.The LUMENTILE FLOOR tile can realize interactive, luminous guiding paths in public spaces (airports, shopping malls, ...) and integrates pressure sensors for detecting people walking onto the tiles.The LUMENTILE WALL tile realizes luminous interactive decorations with application to interior design; it integrates gesture sensors for interaction with users.FLOOR and WALL tiles provide a uniform and smooth illumination, come in a 30cm x 30cm size with four independently addressable pixels (upcoming: 60cm x 60cm size with 16 pixels), and realize a smart network of intelligent units, that communicate and exchange information among each other.The LUMENTILE VIDEO tile has 16 pixels in a 30cm x 30cm size and realizes giant HD video installations (i.e. up to 100m size). Applications include stadiums and sporta arenas, and full building covering (ventilated facades) with a permanent, rugged building & construction element, capable of adding video capability to traditional architecture and buildings.
