All coalmines in Flanders belonged to KS. End 1992 the last pit was closed and the number of employees reduced from 18,000 to 1,300. The government gave KS the mandate to revamp the province of Limburg. A reconversion program was developed in which new activities were planned over 5 divisions: leisure, logistics, energy, construction and environment. Due to a large scale political scandal, KS’s mission statement was completely downgraded in 1994. All re-conversion activities were stopped and most employees were laid off. Reported directly to the CEO. Elaborate general and divisional strategies, targets and objectives . Follow-up, control, support the divisions and industrial business units. Responsible for market analysis and commercial evaluation of all new projects (± 30). Development of business plans for new projects: Minerva (car-recycling), Integral Plastic Re-cycling, Auto Museum, Virtual Reality Park, Herb Centre, etc…

European branch of Calgon Carbon Corporation, world leader in activated carbon, European leader in charcoal. Industrial marketing responsibility, in Europe, for activated carbon: food (sugar, coffee, acids, etc…), pharmaceuticals, automobile, solvent abatement, etc… Consumer marketing responsibility, in Europe, for charcoal.

Major VCM and PVC producer with downstream subsidiaries, daughter of DSM and Tessenderlo Chemie, located in Tessenderlo (Belgium). Final responsibility for marketing analysis and research. Established and structured programs to monitor all internal and external commercial data.  Developed budgets and reports. Created a world-wide planning system for sales and production, integrating short and long term objectives.  Developed budget structure and lay-out for the sales offices.  Supervised the logistics department. Established a seasonal adjusted forecasting system, which was considered as the most performant in the industry.  Developed company strategy and objectives in co-operation with the commercial & general directors.
