The approved proposals included projects with innovative companies (Bosch, Nidec Global Appliance- Embraco and Zen S.A) and an international partnership with the Technical University Federico Santa Maria - Chile.Research activities:Self-lubricant composites:Development of metal matrix self-lubricant composites by different powder metallurgy techniques (metal injection molding and pressing) for the application in hermetic compressors parts. These solutions have been developed in partnership with Nidec Global Appliance - Embraco.Synthesis of 2D materials:The goal of this research line the development of a new synthesis method to obtain 2D turbostratic graphite particles. This 2D material can promote low dry friction coefficient in the macro scale (0.04) and is suitable for the application in self-lubricant composites or as an oil additive. This development resulted in a patent deposited in 2020.Computational thermodynamics:Computational thermodynamics tools (Thermo-Calc and DICTRA software) used for the development of novel materials by powder metallurgy techniques.
