About José Fronza

Hello, I`m a geographer (2012) with a Master of Science degree in Remote Sensing (INPE, 2017). + 13 years of experience with geospatial development/application. Finishing an MBA in Project Management in August 2023. I have experience with remote sensing vegetation analyses, spatial analysis with Python in Jupyter Notebooks, Remote sensing datasets and applications (currently focused on vegetation and GEDI), Python coding, Google Earth Engine extraction, and Geopandas geospatial data processing. I`m curious and study many topics, including Python, Google Earth Engine, Microsoft Planetary Computer, Geospatial data automation, AI (Artificial Intelligence), Machine Learning, Earth observation Big Data, Time Series Analysis, Radiometric and Atmospheric corrections, and carbon stock assessment.

    Title of the dissertation: Analysis of Eucalyptus sp. Canopy Reflectance using the 4SAIL Model and Orbital Data.ABSTRACT: Radiative transfer models applied to vegetation studies assist in understanding the interception and interaction process of electromagnetic radiation with vegetation canopies, taking into account their biophysical and biochemical characteristics. They provide a logical connection between vegetation biophysical parameters and their spectral properties. This work was based on the use of the 4SAIL version of the SAIL - Scattering by Arbitrarily Inclined Leaves model to simulate surface reflectance spectra of Eucalyptus plantations located near the Itatinga/SP Experimental Station. These data were subsequently compared with radiometric data extracted from Worldview-3 orbital image, which had its digital numbers converted to surface reflectance values acquired over the same Eucalyptus plantations. In absolute terms, reflectance values of canopies simulated by the model did not show good adherence to those extracted from WorldView 3 images. The best correlations between the two data sets were obtained for the near-infrared region.
