Interim iPSC group leader and CRISPR screening leader. Expanded use of iPSC-derived models internally and improved iPSC and iPSC-derived microglia SOPs. Onboarded new CRISPR modalities and workflows for screening including arrayed-screening using automation.

• My research has focused on (1) discovery of new drug targets for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease, (2) validating and optimizing existing models of neurodegnerative disease, (3) evaluating the preclinical.
• Led translational and discovery research projects for neurodegenerative diseases.
• Designed, conducted, and interpreted experiments using various in vitro and in vivo approaches (e.g. CRISPR in vitro screens, in vivo CRISPR gene targeting, stereotaxic surgeries, compound administration by oral gavage.
• Managed research associates and undergraduate students.
• Coordinated outsourcing for PK/PD/formulation needs with CROs.
• Contributed actively to fundraising effort (NIH grants, research proposal for private foundations).

As a PhD student, I developed a strategy to use CRISPR screens to identify new mediators of GLUT4 trafficking. I solved the mechanisms of two of the mediators I identified, RABIF, which is a first-in-class Rab specific holdase chaperone, and AAGAB, which guides the sequential assembly of the adaptor protein 2 complex for clathrin mediated endocytosis.

Contributed to the development of E8 medium, a widely-used commercially available chemically defined medium for the culture of human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells.
