As the co-founder of Teyit, Turkey's leading fact-checking organization, I have been at the forefront of efforts to combat disinformation in the Turkish media space since 2016. My work focuses on creating a more informed and accountable society by challenging narratives and disinformation in digital media. Through Teyit, I’ve helped shift public perspectives on disinformation, advocating for greater media literacy and platform accountability.Recognized as an International Fact-Checking Network Fellow (2017), I worked on countering disinformation related to refugees, a growing challenge globally. In 2022, I was honored to be nominated for the International Center for Journalists' Elevate News Business Hub Program, where I gained expertise in newsroom sustainability, helping smaller outlets thrive in the digital age.A regular speaker and trainer on fact-checking and media literacy, I contribute to policy discussions and platform strategies for managing disinformation effectively. My reports have informed how tech companies and media outlets can enhance their responses to misinformation.I also hold key roles, such as serving on the National Committee of the International Press Institute (IPI) in Turkey and on the Governance Body of the European Fact-Checking Standards Network.In 2024, I expanded my focus by founding Yapay Gündem, a platform dedicated to exploring the societal impacts of artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on its intersection with media, disinformation, and democracy. I am committed to developing a dialogue around AI ethics and its role in reshaping media landscapes and society globally.
