Founded Lahore, Pakistan as a site for Columbia fellows to host seminars with high schoolers based in Pakistan to discourse on classical texts from around the world. Helped design a curriculum where students of diverse traditions could hold conversations on the discussion of the humanities in an effort to promote cross-cultural dialogue and to bring light to contexts that may have been under-resourced or undervalued otherwise. Ran program in Aitchison College (LHR, Pakistan) where nearly 40 students attended in the very first year this program launched. Collaborated with Columbia University's Committee on Asia/ Middle East and Urdu/ Hindi department.

Worked under Dr. Thomasena Ellison MD, Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialist, to assist with scheduling appointments, returning patient calls, verifying insurance information, and taking patient vitals. Wrote referrals for patients, scanned documents for logging purposes, and assisted with writing sick leave notes. Worked on several projects including creating an emailing network for patient reminders and developed an automated email notification system that lets patients know their appointments are coming soon a month in advance. Scheduled annual exams/ pap tests, and utilized patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Research assistant at The Dietrich Lab, a lab that studies Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogenic bacterium known for its natural resistance to many drugs. Continued microbiology class project investigating the glyoxylate shunt pathway. Helped develop an aggregate assay protocol capable of mimicking the lung environment. Used confocal imaging to detect cells expressing GFP reporters. Used ImageJ to quantify morphological characteristics of the aggregates. Performed a variety of lab techniques including isolating, sequencing via ApE and analysis on BLAST, cloning, PCRs, and western blots. Gave a presentation on "Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Aggregate Assays" at Columbia University and attended The New York Bacillus Interest Group (NYBIG) conference.

Part of the Executive board at Columbia Science Review. Wrote blogs and facilitated a panel discussion bringing together sociologists, economists, and earth scientists about the disparities in COVID-19 treatment and the effects of environmental racism. Conference tackled the question of how environmental racism perpetuates inequalities in exposure to environmental pollutants like carcinogens and PM2.5, which disproportionately affect the health of black and brown communities. Conducted literary research on how one’s zip code and genetic predispositions could have an influence on health outcomes.

Volunteered as a Health Ambassador at Alice Health Promotion. Helped support people facing mental health challenges during the pandemic by providing an individualized safe space to allow them to speak about whatever they would like or offer facilitated group discussions. Scheduled game night events to allow socialization to occur in an otherwise secluded online environment.

Vice President for the Organization of Pakistani Students at Columbia University. Voiced concerns for the Pakistani community on campus. Alongside other Pakistani student leaders, I helped coordinate and moderate events like SOCH, which analyzed the ‘Naya Pakistan’ movement.

Worked as a Research Technician at the Center for Host-Pathogen Interactions. Studied the biodistribution of a SARS-CoV-2 Inhibitory Lipopeptide by homogenizing different parts of a ferret model and quantified via Sandwich ELISA. Investigated how the Measles F protein interacts with H between virus and host via a Co-Immunoprecipitation Assay Protocol. Outlined the biodistribution of the Measles Virus dimer peptides in a cotton rat model in the lungs and serum after intranasal administration via ELISA. Performed thermal stability assay with transfections for Measles Virus variants. Performed basic laboratory work including creating solutions, autoclaving, splitting cell cultures, and presented work in weekly meetings. Presented "SARS-CoV-2 Inhibitory Lipopeptide Biodistribution" abstract at Columbia University Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Worked with Columbia Global Center. Specifically focusing on the RNA slum colony in Mumbai, India and on the COVID-19 situation in India, I conducted telephone interviews with grassroot organizations, translating different dialects of Hindi to English, wrote blog posts on gender differences and the impact the pandemic had on exacerbating specific gender roles, and wrote a detailed internal report on SAR CoV-2 impact across India. Investigated how the pandemic affected the urban poor across 10 cities in India by collecting data from various sources and writing a comprehensive report. Many of my works were published on their social media and website, and sections of my reports were used in YUVA’s COVID-19 study.

Assisted low-income first-generation students with free personalized SAT prep along and teaching them how to design a competitive college application. Offered resources they can seek such as scholarships and offered guidance on how to approach high costs such as asking schools for fee-waivers or speaking to the financial aid offices at colleges directly. Helped curate a college-list and how to decide which colleges are best suited per each student's goals.

Worked alongside the physical education department at Queens High School for the Sciences at York College to facilitate a program where students are taught injury prevention tactics. Trained students how to correctly do warm-ups and stretches. Collected, inputted, and distributed ~500 students’ FitnessGram reports. Led FitnessGram activities and recorded each student's statistics for their exams.

Conducted behavioral sciences research at York College under. Ian Hansen Ph.D. Studied intrinsic religiosity and coalitional rigidity as predictors of religion over authority. Used SPSS in order to model and map out the relationship of "Intrinsic Religiosity and Coalitional Rigidity as predictors of religion over authority."
