I am an 8-year veteran on the United States Marine Corps, where I trained and served in a variety of administrative, aviation and air traffic control facility management roles. Most rewarding was the opportunity to lead and work with some of America's brightest and most motivated professionals - US Marines. I left active duty (Honorable) as a captain after eight years of service. With a motivation carried over from my military service, I began work as an Ethics and Compliance Officer with The Boeing Company (Ethics and Business Conduct). In this role, I worked directly with, trained, and advised employees of all seniority levels from new-hires to Program Vice Presidents. I was provided numerous opportunities to exercise creativity and independence by working on enterprise-wide initiatives, leading projects and teams, engaging in conflict resolution, and driving business success through metrics analysis and proven cultural approaches. In 2020, with support of my amazing wife and life partner, I left The Boeing Company to pursue a life-long dream: I successfully completed a continuous "thru-hike" of the Pacific Crest Trail - an unbroken foot path stretching over 2,650 miles from the Mexican border to the Canadian border which follows a route through the highest elevations on the West Coast. This endeavor required extensive planning and logistical problem solving in addition to the mental and physical challenges. With my goal complete, and with a new daughter, I decided to also strike out on a new career path. I have recently completed my degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University. My greatest CS interests are databases, system administration, and computer networking.
