Gunita began her career as a journalist, working for Nikkei Business Publications on Fleet Street in London, UK where she covered FTSE 100 companies, in particular focusing on the telecommunications and automotive sectors. Following this, she joined Business Monitor International, a Fitch Solutions company, heading up the telecommunications team to offer clients in-depth market intelligence on the industry. Gunita relocated to Japan where she worked for The Japan Times and then later FTI Consulting, which she joined in 2010. Whilst at FTI Consulting, she provided guidance to Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Section listed companies looking to enter into new business partnerships and unchartered markets across North and Southeast Asia. Gunita provided leadership on a large number of cross-regional and complex investigative assignments. In 2013, she moved to Singapore to lead on FTI Consulting's Japan-related growing interests in Southeast Asia in addition to working on behalf of other public, private, financial and legal entities. In 2015, Gunita joined Control Risks as Head of Business Intelligence in New Delhi leading a two office multi-cultural team and working on a number of high-profile investigations centred around crisis management, strategic intelligence and integrity due diligence across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. She is currently Head of Due Diligence at Aperio Intelligence in London offering financial institutions, law firms and multinationals a range of intelligence-solutions for their compliance and reputational needs. Gunita studied Japanese and Mandarin at the University of Leeds and China's Capital Normal University before pursuing a Master's degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in Pacific Asian studies focusing on Sino-Japanese relations. She is bilingual in Japanese and English.
