Engaged by the Directors/Owners of the largest commercial bakery and milling operation in Western Kenya to carry out executive recruitment for a revamped business structure and develop an FMCG franchise sales and distribution business plan. Recruited entire management team of a new bakery plant in Nakuru, Kenya, including a new bakery manager from Durban, South Africa and operations and finance teams. On-boarded Boyden East Africa to carry out the executive recruitment of the new Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer and shortlisted two selected candidates. Developed a business plan to establish a small-scale retail franchise network.

Nairobi, Kenya

Directed the HR restructuring of activities for one of the largest private construction companies in East Africa. Managing all aspects of HR planning and rationalization in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Zambia. Recruited by Washington-based Emerging Capital Partners (ECP) - the private equity investors in Spencon - to begin HR restructuring rationalizing headcount in their financially distressed operations. Initiated retrenchment and resource rationalization exercises of over 200 staff in indebted and cash strained road and infrastructure projects, including the Musoma and Kigoma Water Supply and Singida District Rural Electrification projects in Tanzania, the Kalangala and Nansana-Busunjju road projects in Uganda and the Sotik Road project in Kenya.

Managed all HR and administration activities across the Kobo Safaris group, one of the largest inbound destination management companies (DMC) in East and Southern Africa, including human resources development, recruitment, retention and training initiatives. Recruited to set up an HR Department and to put in place formal operating policies and procedures for a rapidly expanding business in Nairobi and Cape Town. Coordinated the opening of new offices in Arusha, Tanzania and Windhoek, Namibia. Following the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, served as the General Manager of the Cape Town operation from July 2010 to June 2011.

From December 2002 to February 2006, directed all human resources activities across the Africa Online group in Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, eSwatini, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. This involved strategic HR planning, human resource development, recruitment and retention. Activities included set-up of eight (8) in-country HR Departments overseeing over 200 employees; frequent visits to operations to carry out planning, recruitment and training. From November 2001 to December 2002, served as the Group Communications Manager for the new owners, the African Lakes Corporation plc situated in London, UK. Based in Nairobi and overseeing all group-wide internal communications initiatives and public relations activities across Internet, software distribution and financial solutions divisions. From March 2000 to November 2001, served as the Corporate Manager, Special Projects involving coordinating the roll-out of the E-Touch cyber cafe franchise outlets and several key mergers, including the UUNET SA JV and the MenaNet Egypt acquisition. From October 1999 to March 2000, served as the General Manager of Africa Online Kenya, overseeing the day-to-day running of the Kenya operation (65 employees in two offices), including regional expansion, re-seller management and product innovation. From August 1997 to October 1999, served as the Division Manager of the Internet Business Solutions (IBS) division. Responsible for a team overseeing web production, the implementation of new e-commerce technologies and managing the divisional P&L.
