Colleagues describe him as "From working with Gunnar, I think the best features he brings to the table are his ideas. He is always analyzing how to improve what is out there with respect to what has been done. He motivates others and inspires young designers to not only learn about design but to live it. I am only upset that he was not a professor at East Carolina University when I was there. I know he is the type of teacher whose words stick with you years later."
