Primary responsibility was the augmentation, migration, and decommissioning of network capacity for Twitch’s global network. As the lead engineer on the team I mentored new hires, built efficiency tracking metrics, and contributed to large project planning in addition to daily tasks.Networking:- Managed 10/100G Transit, PNI, IX, and backbone connectivity- Configured and troubleshot routing protocols:- BGP & Route Policies, MPLS-TE, RSVP-TE,OSPF, IS-IS- Ordered and troubleshot all physical cabling - cross connects, patching & optics- Worked with colocation providers and remote hands and/or with Twitch engineers- Managed major PoP migrations involving terabits of capacity and live traffic- Deployed DWDM DCI equipment to enable high capacity PoP interconnectivity- Verified dark fiber paths with OTDR and worked with vendor to fix breaks, reflectance, etc- Installed Ciena Waveservers, mux/demux,, and amplifiersAutomation:- Built and maintained tools using Python, Go, and JS(React/Vue) deployed on AWS infrastructure- Automation tooling saving staff hundreds of hours a month included:- Configuration generation - Transit, PNI, & Backbone- Port reservation on network equipment- Network Maintenance email parsing Maintenance Notification Project:- Leading member of the BCOP iCal maintenance notification initiative; a project involving the addition of an iCalendar file augmented with metadata pertinent to network maintenance information for easy machine parsing.- I presented the project to Euro-IX, found here: https://youtu.be/oRbdXk7lW7w
