This role involves starting Indian operations from scratch, stabilizing them, and strategically positioning the country as a central hub for global sourcing, ultimately leading to the establishment of a manufacturing facility to supply South Asian and Middle Eastern markets. Key responsibilities include full P&L accountability, developing and executing annual budget plans, forecasting, and reporting to HQ in the USA and regional HQ in the Philippines. The role emphasizes fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and diversity among employees while ensuring compliance with government regulations and ethical practices. It also entails collaborating with global stakeholders to develop business strategies, leveraging shared service support across functions, and building strong relationships with distributors, key customers, and trade partners to drive business growth, revenue, and market share.

The National Council on WTO, Trade & Investment of ASSOCHAM has been working in the area of international trade and trade policy. The council is actively involved in supporting the Government towards making effective strategies for FTA negotiations, and capacity building of Indian businesses on trade-related issues; dissemination of information & creating greater awareness among the stakeholders; increasing their role and participation in trade policy-making.The council has been organizing various sensitization workshops on issues related to WTO agreements & negotiations for industry representatives and also for government officials. It also holds stakeholder consultations across the country for seeking input on WTO/FTA negotiations and export-related issues. The council has been working closely with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Government of India; State Governments; and a large number of think tanks, institutions, and inter-governmental organizations.

The World BioEconomy Forum is a think-tank initiative which provides a global platform for key stakeholders of the Circular Bioeconomy to share ideas and promote bio-based solutions. The Forum’s fundamental purpose is to encourage the replacement of non-renewable based industries, products and services to facilitate a more sustainable economy while mitigating climate change. The 2021 season will provide several new features and opportunities to get engaged with the Forum and its many members and followers.

As the Managing Director and Country Manager for UPM India, I was instrumental in establishing the company’s operations in India from the ground up. Reporting to senior leadership at Finland, Germany, and UK. I was responsible for the company’s full P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and group reporting. My role encompassed developing and training the internal team, building a robust sales network, and ensuring alignment with UPM’s global values, ethics, and compliance standards. I fostered strong collaboration with UPM’s global teams, leveraging shared services across HR, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain.Key achievements included registering UPM as a 100% Indian subsidiary, constructing two converting factories in Navi Mumbai and Bangalore, and forming a joint venture. Additionally, I led the exploration and execution of a Greenfield Paper Mill project in Gujarat, securing land at GIDC and obtaining all regulatory and environmental clearances. I worked closely with institutions like MIDC, GIDC, and financial entities to navigate approvals and build strong industry relationships, ensuring seamless execution of UPM’s strategic objectives in India.Furthermore, conceptualized and executed a 50-50 joint venture, India Recypa Pvt. Ltd., between UPM-Kymmene Oyj and Anika International Pvt. Ltd., serving as the trading and sourcing arm of UPM Kymmene in India. As a Director on the Board representing UPM, I oversaw the JV’s operations, which specialized in recycled paper fibre (RCP) and allied products. Under my leadership, the JV grew into the leading name in India’s recycled fibre sourcing and trading business, establishing four offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Jalandhar, and Ahmedabad and achieving a pan-India presence.

Autoprint is an Indian MNC , manufacturing high-end printing & packaging machineries. As Senior Manager at Autoprint Machinery Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd., I led national sales and customer support operations for this Indian MNC, which operates in 17 countries and 23 domestic locations, manufacturing and marketing indigenous and collaborated MNC brands of mid-range and high-end printing and allied machinery. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, I managed a team of six Regional Heads and Service Managers, overseeing 114 service engineers and 56 sales and marketing professionals.Key responsibilities included leading operations across 56 service and 23 sales locations nationwide, identifying, appointing, training, and monitoring dealers and service franchises. I successfully restructured the dealer and channel partner network, along with the service engineers’ network across India, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
