Gurdeep is Co-Founder and General Partner at Rocana Venture Partners (“Rocana”). Rocana is a mission-driven venture capital fund based in Miami that supports entrepreneurs who are creating innovative and disruptive health and wellness-related consumer brands. The fund’s international community of values-aligned partners help to create transformational outcomes for its brand partners. Rocana’s three key verticals are food & beverage, personal care & beauty, and mind-body wellness. The underlying “Better Living” mission of Rocana is to elevate what you put inside yourself, what you put on yourself, and what you do with yourself, focusing on gut health, mental health, and physical health, ultimately leading to longevity and happiness. Rocana has a very human-centric approach and the mission is born out of Gurdeep’s deep personal passions for health and wellness. Before launching Rocana in February 2018, Gurdeep spent 17 years in investment banking M&A and capital markets, in both North America and Asia, with roughly half of his banking career at J.P. Morgan as a globally top-ranked associate and the other half at BNP Paribas, building an award-winning Transportation investment banking franchise in Asia-Pacific. Gurdeep advised numerous clients on transformative and award-winning landmark M&A deals and IPOs across various sectors, particularly in Transportation and Consumer. During his investment banking career, one of his most gratifying accomplishments was creating the first female billionaire in Southeast Asia by leading the IPO of Vietjet. Gurdeep brings his deep thinking, savvy deal-making, and financial acumen to his venture investments. Gurdeep is also an active angel investor in various industries, although focusing more exclusively on health and wellness since launching Rocana, including being an early investor in Bai, Bumble, CAVU Venture Partners (CPG fund), Employees Only Asia, Gymkhana Fine Foods, Kettle & Fire, Mid-Day Squares, Moven, Noetic Fund (mental health fund), Noom, Olipop, OPUS SoundBed, Othership, PaTu Wind Farm, Relativity Space, Selina, Splendid Spoon, and Weedmaps. He is also an active board member of numerous private companies.
