At REED Digital, I had the following responsibilities:- Managing an AWS cost control initiative which led to a saving of £15,000 a month, using tools such as Cloud Custodian.- I lead the adoption of a distributed microservices architecture and the deployment of a cloud-agnostic API gateway. This also involved refactoring our CICD pipelines for Kubernetes deployments.- Responsible for the administration of the DevOps toolchain including the Jira suite, Octopus Deploy, Terraform, Vault, Packer, Ansible and Azure DevOps.- Built CICD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Teamcity, Proget and implemented testing and compliance checks, using Selenium and Cloud Custodian. These pipelines were for applications built in .NET Core.- Administered the Atlassian stack for work management (JIRA and Confluence).

At Arup I held partial responsibility for the Azure environment, comprising of Virtual Machines, App Services, functions, scheduler jobs, API management and more. I have worked on ensure the Azure cloud environment is fit for production usage across the form, thus working to keep cost down, and increase enterprise agility. I also administer and enforce security, using tools such as Keyvault, Security Center and RBAC for controlled access to Azure resources. The Azure environment is administered using Terraform and Packer, alongside Azure DevOps to serve as a pipeline for automated releases. I have also implemented a DevOps pipeline for automated releases into the Azure environment, using Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy and New Relic. This has led to quicker, more stable releases, and faster velocity and business agility. I was involved in a large scale migration from all our On Premises datacentres to Azure and AWS in a multi cloud strategy, and using a mix of hosting and deployment models. This is in line with our business and thus IT strategy to improve our agility and time to market with innovations.I also administered our ADFS and identity infrastructure, which underpinned access to our enterprise application portfolio. Azure AD Connect was used to synchronise identities from On Premises Active Directory into the cloud.

At Content and Code, I was responsible for administering both internal and client Sharepoint/ASP.NET environments. This included every aspect, down to the hypervisor. Part of my duties involved being a technical specialist for Metro Bank, whereby I devised a server monitoring strategy for their hypervisor (ESXi), and mission-critical applications such as IIS, Active Directory and SQL Server. IIS A key area of my responsibilities was also to perform a Sharepoint Administrator role on site for a large insurance company. Duties ranged from automating the bulk addition of Sharepoint users (usually thousands) to health check reviews and security hardening of both the Sharepoint platform and Windows in compliance with the change process. In this capacity, I worked with the end users to identify areas in which the Sharepoint platform could be improved and derived an end-user focused roadmap to improve end-user adoption.
