My research interests stem from my desire to understand complex mechanisms of biological and social systems. I utilize my computer and information science skills (B.S. and Ph.D.) and my postdoctoral training in biological sciences (R25) and translational research (KL2, M.S.) to address a wide variety of impactful systems biology, informatics and biomedical problems. I study problems stemming from data generated in proteomics, genomics, metagenomics, epigenetics, pharmacogenomics and social media to tackle novel questions. Specifically, I am interested creating a personalized-medicine paradigm and I solve problems in these disciplines to address this challenge. I analyze large amounts of data where traditional methods have failed to tackle these challenges. In recent years, my research program focused on developing models, algorithms, and tools for analyzing and integrating big data, and solving problems via these approaches.

To accomplish this, methods as well as tools and models are needed to acquire, analyze and integrate this knowledge.
