About Gurpreet Singh

In addition to TalkLocal, Gurpreet has started three other technology startups over the last fifteen years. As founder and CTO, he architected, designed, and developed front-end web interfaces, back-end applications, databases, a content grabber, tax calculators, and anything else needed to power the user-experience for two web based ventures: Desi Vibes (a social networking site) and Progressive Tax (an online tax software as a service “SaaS”).Later, not even the honor of doing projects for NASA and the VA; working at Lockheed Martin, AT&T, and SAIC; or leading a project to win the Mary Walker Championship Award could keep him from entrepreneurship. It was while working in these prestigious roles that he founded Geeks On-Site. The IT consulting firm which began as a one-man operation in 2004, has since recruited, hired, and trained over 50 professionals to serve 10,000+ residential and small business clients in the Washington DC area. However, Gurpreet spent millions on digital and traditional marketing only to achieve mixed results. So, after engineering so many tech-based efficiencies for others, he drew on more than a decade’s worth of IT knowledge and enterprise-level web-applications development experience to build TalkLocal’s platform and patented ranking algorithm. In 2015, BisNow recognized Gurpreet as one of DC’s Leading CTOs. He has also been quoted and published by Forbes, Washington Post, Washington Exec, etc.TalkLocal has raised $4 million in venture funding and has delivered over 2 million calls nationwide. It was voted "DC's Hottest Showcasing Start-up" by Tech Cocktail and a "Leading in Local Future Star" by BIA/Kelsey.Gurpreet is involved philanthropically as a Director of the LaKan foundation and has also contributed his IT skills to several non-profits.Gurpreet holds a M.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
