Primary focus of my PhD was to develop and execute a high-throughput platform for the genotypic and phenotypic characterization of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) specific T-cell receptors. The platform required the use and knowledge of a breadth of in vitro techniques including the following: Cell culture, flow cytometry, PCR, sequencing, cellular transfections, lentiviral work, molecular cloning, reporter gene assays and lentiviral work. I preformed this research in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment that gave me invaluable, communication, presentation and leadership skills. During my time as a PhD student, I supervised, trained and mentored undergraduate research students co-op students and visiting scientists. I facilitated and participated in international collaborations leading to publications and new team grants. The high-quality data generated through our platform lead to me presenting at international conferences through conference travel awards.

I was elected as a graduate student executive (Social Coordinator) in the department of molecular biology and biochemistry for two consecutive terms. In these two terms I fostered a positive culture in the department by working in collaboration with caucus executives to organize conferences, socials and mental health workshops.
