I have been involved with the fine arts my entire life. I was a ballerina until my late teenage years, attending Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts with a concentration in dance. I also studied theatre during my senior year. I attended El Centro Community College my first year and a half of college to take my basic courses and from there I transferred to Southern Methodist University as a sophomore. Before I stepped foot onto the golden seal in Dallas Hall (fellow Mustangs, you remember the tradition!), I knew I wanted to study journalism. I have always had a passion for writing, even when I was doing piques across the black dance floor in high school. I knew I would someday be a writer.After college, I worked at Hollister as a Visual Manager, still utilizing my artistic skills within the business world by dressing the fixtures in the latest trends, rearranging the merchandise to push current fashion-forward items and changing the marketing to entice customers to stop in. From there, I went on to SiliconAngle, a technology/finance blog and syndicate of Forbes as a writer and later became an editor. I decided to move to California, looking to expand my wings and try living independently in the summer sun. I worked at Model Citizen, a quaint little boutique on the beach as a sales associate. Although I loved expressing my individuality through my outfits for work and dressing the fixtures, I became increasingly homesick and decided it was time to move back to Texas after digging my toes in the sand for a year and a half. I am currently working as the Editing Assistant at GuruFocus.com, a website dedicated to value investing that gives information on stocks and well-known investors. The site is heavily based on Warren Buffett's investing philosophies.
