Lmart Development Worker

Angus Council

I Was responsible for 2 secondary schools and all their feeder primaries.it was a role that involved diversifying young people and children from primary 5 up to S4 away from offending , through set programmes of sport outdoor activities and other key group or 1:1 work. I had to work alone on building specific individual or group projects to re engage the youngsters or engage families back into education. The programmes or sporting activities were tailored to suit individuals needs at a time in their lives that they required some signposting in the right direction. I also acted as a positive male role model for the youngsters as sometimes, that was enough to get them back on track.my working hours were very flexible and I undertook voluntery work within my working community in my own time.it was a rewarding post, however on the dispersal of the youth justice system in Angus our local multi agency resource workers were not required and the service has been since closed down.
