Pinnacle's web applications are written using Java and Ruby/Rails whereas the document production applications utilize HP's Exstream document composition engine, and Python to integrate with SEFAS for post-composition and shop automation. Pinnacle is primarily a Unix shop running Solaris & Linux, and utilizes several databases including Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL.Although my primary focus was managing the workload and deliverables of the software development team, I also implemented many process improvements within the organization. As a working manager, I developed solutions for our clients and helped mentor junior employees. I improved the workflow with other departments by optimizing our issue/ticket software and implemented time-tracking metrics so that we could project resource availability and as well as for capacity planning. I documented our workflow and procedures for SOC2 compliance. Most of the technical solutions I developed were written in Python 2.7. With a software development organization previously devoid of Software Quality Assurance, I implemented a QA department from staffing to determining appropriate methods and procedures for effective software testing.
