When I first met Gus, he was finishing up his BS in information systems from the David Eccles School of Business. Gus is a very warm and personable professional who cultivates genuine, authentic relationships with ease. Beyond these characteristics, Gus remains extremely teachable and open to feedback. These characteristics will make him an excellent addition to a lucky team, as he will be a natural leader and both an encouraging mentor and a humble mentee! Gus graduated during a particularly difficult time in 2020. The COVID-19 Pandemic had shuttered many businesses, and the future of the economy was uncertain. Gus was undaunted by the challenges that he faced. He engaged in regular professional development, building his technical skills to make himself stand out in a challenging job market and incorporating feedback from each interview. Gus and I regularly met to work through the often discouraging process of finding an ideal fit. Throughout this process, he viewed each setback as a learning opportunity. Many people in his situation would have become discouraged, but I found that rather than being discouraged, he saw each rejection as an opportunity to grow. Gus receives my highest recommendation.
