I was a student at Witteberg High School where I have helped to track and recover lost/stolen devices such as phones and laptops. I wrote a program that I used to track these devices and I have also assisted the South African Police on some occasions. I discovered the wonderful world of programming and it's limitless possibilities and opportunities; also how to develop and better the world through it.I took a gap year at Beyond Adventure which was very though and forced me out of my comfort zone, I have learned a lot from that year about myself, my strengths and weaknesses and gained discipline. I also acquired an Advanced Diploma for Business Management and Administration in that year.The following year I went to CTU in Potchefstroom to study Electrical Engineering N4, completing the first semester and moving on to N5, but quickly realized that it was not for me.The factors that made me decide to move on to other things was the remote learning and the fact that there was no practical application, I would rather work and learn with my hands than to sit all day in front of the computer and do maths.I then deciding to work on my father's farm in the Karoo at the end of my studying year for more than a year and learned a lot about the farm, also the challenges that most farmers faced with water management. I developed the idea to automate such water systems to prevent boreholes from drying up (which is a common thing in the Karoo) due to mismanagement and time restrictions. Thus I pioneered an IoT device which I call HydroSentinel for smart water management in my free time. I am still busy developing and improving it and have installed a few of them on other farms with success and praise.
